GM Korea Co., the local unit of American automaker General Motors Co., is recalling more than 9,000 units of its Orlando minivan for a bad grounding connection that may cause the engine to stop, the transportation ministry said Thursday.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, a dodgy electrical ground in the engine control unit of the Chevrolet Orlando LPG may cause engine vibration or cause the engine to turn off.
The recall affects 9,338 Orlando vehicles produced between May 6, 2011 and Nov. 23, 2012.
The ministry also said Audi Volkswagen Korea, the local importer of the German automaker, has been ordered to recall certain model year Volkswagen Tiguan vehicles for defective dashboard warning lights that may fail to warn of a loss of tire air pressure.
This affects 490 units of the Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TDI produced between Oct. 3 and Dec. 3 of last year.
Free repair services will be available from Friday at service centers for both automakers, the ministry said. (Yonhap)
