Kris Jenner, an American reality TV show broadcaster, is emerging as a “symbol of good luck” among Generation Z in China

According to recent U.S. media People, Kris Jenner has recently been reinterpreted as an “icon of success and wealth” on Chinese social media, and related memes are rapidly spreading.

In China, Kris Jenner goes beyond being just a mother of a celebrity family and is positioned as an iconic figure. He is the mother of model-Hollywood actor Kim Casadian and model-entrepreneur Kyler Jenner, and is known as the “mother manager” who succeeded in his children. As such, Kris Jenner has been reinterpreted as a “strategist” who designed the success of the entire family and as a “center of power,” expanding into an image of “being that attracts wealth and success” and being consumed as a kind of “lucky charm.”

Some Chinese Internet users call him “The Empress” and even compare him to the image of a powerful female leader.

Chinese Gen Z users synthesize his face with various images and reprocess it into ‘lawyer Chris’ and ‘teacher Chris’, and set it as a profile picture or mobile phone wallpaper.

On China’s social media platform Xiao Hongshu, more than 100,000 related posts have been posted, garnering about 50 million views. The trend is rapidly spreading to other platforms such as Douyin, TikTok, and Instagram.

“Kris Jenner is one of the hardest working businessmen in the United States,” TikTok creator Marcelo Wang told People. “In line with Chinese culture that values effort, it has become a ‘play that attracts success’ among Generation Z.”

The phenomenon was also reported to Kris Jenner, who was involved in the incident. He responded by leaving a message in the relevant TikTok video comment, “You’re all doing great, guys!”
