“Even if you don’t go to college, you’ll get paid hundreds of millions of dollars,”  This job is popular among Generation Z in the U.S.”

According to a recent survey, among Gen Z in the United States, more and more people choose technical jobs without going to college due to high tuition and employment difficulties.

According to the U.S. business magazine Pocheon on the 2nd, a survey conducted by market research firm Harris Paul last year at the request of the financial firm Credit Karma showed that about 78% of young Americans showed more interest in the technology job. Technical jobs such as carpenters and electricians can receive high salaries without college student loans and can run private businesses, the media explained.

Young men aged 25-34 years without a university degree often chose jobs that required manual labor.

The most preferred truck drivers for workers without degrees earn $62,000 to $101,000 a year instead of working hours and short hours spent at home.

Construction workers can earn up to $62,000 and on-site inspectors can earn anywhere from $56,000 to $94,000. This is one of the most popular jobs that a chef can do without a degree. Generation Z in the United States has a negative perception of college due to rising college tuition and student loan debt.

Lisa Quiroz, CEO of non-profit Juicy Vocational Services, told NPR, “People have seen college education as a way to the middle class, a way to a comfortable office job,” adding, “Over the past 10 to 15 years, there has been a trend among young people to quit college, and the huge debt of college itself has become a barrier in itself.”

For this reason, more and more young people are turning to vocational schools where they can learn skills.

The U.S. National Student Information Center said the enrollment rate at community colleges centered on vocational education increased by 16% in 2023. The enrollment rate for construction-related majors increased by 23%, and the enrollment rate for HVAC programs increased by 7%. In particular, the fastest-growing job in the U.S. in 2023 is wind turbine technicians, who earn more than $103,000 a year.
