While the story of a Chinese woman in her 20s who chewed on a gold ring that her boyfriend secretly put in her cake to propose was revealed, experts warned that it was a “dangerous act.”
On the 22nd (local time), local media such as China’s Bastille Post reported the story of a woman in her 20s who broke the gold ring in half, citing a video posted on local SNS.
According to the video, A, a woman in her 20s in China, ate a cake prepared by her boyfriend after work. A found a hard metal foreign substance in the cake, spat it out, and took a picture to protest the store.
But what Mr. A spat out was not a foreign substance, but a gold ring prepared by his boyfriend. This gold ring was broken in half because Mr. A chewed it.
The boyfriend said, “I put a ring in the cake to propose today,” and added, “I didn’t know that my girlfriend would chew it and break it in half.” A was embarrassed and apologized to his boyfriend.
In response, the boyfriend proposed again, saying, “I can fit the ring again, so marry me,” and A replied, “I like it.” Netizens who heard the video and the story responded, “Can you chew gold and break it in two?” and “How strong are your girlfriend’s teeth?”
However, experts warned, “In the case of A, his teeth are strong and his teeth did not break even when he chewed a gold ring, but it is a dangerous situation that can cause ‘tooth fracture’ in ordinary people.”
Teeth fracture refers to chewing hard foreign substances, cracking or breaking teeth due to trauma. The inside or roots of the teeth can also be affected at this time.
Symptoms after tooth fracture include chilling, painful, and shaking teeth. In particular, if the inside of the tooth is damaged by tooth fracture, the area becomes cold and painful when eating water or food. Sometimes the teeth turn black or yellow, because nerves and blood vessels are damaged inside the tooth.
Experts emphasized that if symptoms are suspected, they should be treated immediately. If left unattended, not only will it be uncomfortable to eat, but it can also lead to disorganization of teeth, malocclusion, jaw joint disorder, and migraines. In the case of tooth fracture, treatment is generally performed to protect and restore broken teeth with resin restoration, laminate, and crown.
If the nerve is exposed when the tooth is broken, the aforementioned treatment and nerve treatment are combined. However, if the tooth is seriously damaged to the root beyond repair, it may be necessary to undergo implant artificial tooth placement treatment.
