Prime Video, the streaming platform of Amazon, the world’s largest e-commerce company, announced on the 18th (local time) that it will produce such programs with famous YouTuber MrBeast. Amazon Prime Video said in a press release that it has decided to air “Beast Games” produced by MrBeast as a series. The company explained that it plans to produce a reality show in which 1,000 participants compete for $5 million, focusing on the existing YouTube show format of MrBeast. The company added that the show is the largest single prize money in the history of TV and streaming platforms.
“Mr. Beast has captured the attention and imagination of fans of all ages around the world,” said Jennifer Salk, CEO of Amazon MGM Studios. “I’m happy to showcase his outstanding production skills and exciting concepts in this show.”
“My goal is to prove that YouTubers and creators can succeed on other platforms by producing the best shows,” Mr.Beast said through Amazon. “Amazon has given me the creative control I need.” Earlier, Mr.Beast modeled after Netflix’s drama “Squid Game” and produced a reality show “Squid Game: The Challenge,” in which 456 contestants compete for $4.56 million in prize money, and released it in November last year. In 2021, Mr.Beast also produced and uploaded a YouTube video of the game in “Squid Game” with the actual participants. The video currently has about 588.77 million views. Mr.Beast, a 25-year-old YouTuber whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, is a famous figure with 2405 million won in subscribers. In a recent interview with the U.S. weekly magazine Time, he revealed that his annual income is about $600 million to 700 million. “I can do that, but not right now,” he said. “We reinvest all the money we earn.” “I believe we will succeed and I reinvest everything enough to be called stupid,” he said. “And it worked.”
Most of the videos he makes cost a lot as he has to make new sets on the bare ground every time, Time said. It takes a long time to make a 15-minute video, which takes 12,000 hours to film.
