According to the Asahi Shimbun, 45% of the 2,088 companies active in introducing AI said they are considering relocating or reducing their employment within the next five years, according to a survey of 6,327 Japanese companies by Tokyo Business Research.
Specifically, 29% of the deployment transition and 16% of the workforce reduction were due to work efficiency. In the case of large companies, the proportion of these responses was higher at 58%. Analysts say that the impact can be concentrated on the white-collar class centered on high-salary office workers. About 4% of the companies surveyed said they were likely to retire early for office workers within five years.
The pace of introduction of AI is also accelerating. Thirty-four percent of the respondents said they are seeking to use AI at the corporate level, while 59 percent of conglomerates said they are. The figure represents an increase of more than 10 percentage points from the survey conducted in August last year.
