Japan considers inviting Philippines President Marcos for state visit next month, Nikkei reports

April 22 (Reuters) – The Japanese ‌government is in talks to invite ‌Philippine President ⁠Ferdinand Marcos ⁠Jr. ⁠to ‌Japan as ⁠a state guest ⁠as early as next month, Nikkei ⁠Asia ⁠reported on Wednesday.

Marcos ‌is expected to meet with ‌Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to “confirm cooperation toward realizing ​a free and open ‌Indo-Pacific and to coordinate responses to ‌China’s maritime ⁠expansion”, the ⁠media outlet ​added.
