China’s High-Speed Railway Introduces a Service to Ride a Train with Companion Animals

According to China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency, the Chinese railway authority said the day before that it would implement a “puppet companion” service on its official social media WeChat account.

This service applies to 121 high-speed railway stations and 228 trains in China.

Under this measure, passengers with pets can choose a train with a “Pet” sign when purchasing a ticket.

In this case, you can carry up to two pets at a time, but you must place your pets in a dedicated cage and store them in a cargo hold on the train.

It is also possible to transport only pets separately.

The exclusive transportation service, which is available even to ordinary customers without a boarding pass, must be booked two to five days before departure.

Authorities explained that the space between passengers and pets was separated to minimize hair loss, smell, and noise.

It also added that temperature and oxygen concentrations are monitored in real time during transportation, and owner access is restricted for safety and hygiene management.
