Thai police have become Disney princesses. A unique cosplay investigation that reconstructs the crime suspect arrest scene with generative artificial intelligence (AI) is gaining explosive response online. The Thai police’s experiment that added “fun” to public relations has attracted viewers.
According to the Singaporean media The Straits Times, Samchuk Police Station in Supanburi, Thailand, released an image of a police officer dressed as a Disney princess arresting a criminal suspect on its official Facebook page on the 15th.
The police in the picture were wearing Snow White and Cinderella dresses, but these were images synthesized in Generative AI.
Local media said the Samchuk Police Department’s investigation team “planned the idea to convey the daily arrest scene more friendly and interesting.”
In the actual arrest process, the police wore uniforms normally, and the princess costume was digitally synthesized after the arrest.
The post became a hot topic of conversation on Thai social media right after its release. Internet users shared their posts with cheerful responses such as “The princesses are so muscular” and “I’ve never seen such a beautiful arrest.”
This is not the first time that Thai police have taken a “proof of strange arrest.” In March last year, police in the Krabi region arrested a drug suspect and took photos of the suspect wearing Newcastle United and Liverpool uniforms, respectively, drawing attention.
At that time, Liverpool beat Newcastle in the League Cup final, so it was evaluated as a “pleasant revenge production” among soccer fans.
“Apart from directing Hwaseung, the most important goal is to maintain order and security in the community,” the Samchuk Police Department said. “It is an attempt to communicate more closely with citizens.”
Attention is focusing on how far the Thai police’s experiment, which combines AI and humor, can change the image of “hard public power.”
