After losing an eye, a man in the United States has created an artificial eyeball with a two-carat diamond implanted in the spot, drawing attention.
Slater Jones, who runs a jewelry store in Alabama in the U.S., completely lost his sight in his right eye due to an illness.
But Jones, who wanted to make a bill out of diamonds he’d been dealing with all his life instead of regular glass, collaborated with artificial eye expert John Lim to create a customized artificial eye.
A real diamond is attached to the center of the artificial eye.
His ‘jewel eyes’ sparkle every time they are in the light.
His choice of not losing his identity as a jewelry designer left a strong impression on many people.

Jones explained his decision, saying, “I lost my eye, but I put a new light in my life instead.”
“Over the past 32 years, we have made about 10,000 artificial eyeballs, from 6-week-old babies to 101-year-old adults, but this work has been the most valuable agenda in terms of materials,” said John Lim, who produced artificial eyeballs.
“It has two carat diamonds. If you ask me why it’s not three carat, it’s simply because it didn’t go in,” he said, drawing laughter.
His story has spread rapidly, drawing attention on social media recently, and Internet users responded by saying, “I turned pain into art,” and “It’s like a live-action version of a happy prince.”
However, on the other hand, there were also voices of concern, such as “I’m wearing a bounty on my own” and “I think I should be careful every time I go outside.”
