In Japan, where the heat wave is raging, “Yangsan-su on the head” is belatedly drawing attention. Unlike ordinary Yangsan, this mass product can be worn on the head like a hat, which was harsh when a similar design was unveiled during the Tokyo Olympics, but now it is so hot that it continues to be sold out.

Recently, photos of Yangsan on the head, also known as “Satgat-type Yangsan,” have been shared on Japanese social networking services (SNS) such as X. The photo of an elementary school student wearing this mass production to school received 20 million views in an instant. The parents of the student who posted the photo said, “When the weather was getting hot in June, my son left school with his friend, Yangsan, and he said, ‘I want to have Yangsan,'” and “I showed him that there is a mass production that is used on the head because it is complicated to use, and he wanted to have it.” The son, who wore a satgat-type mass production, reportedly expressed satisfaction, saying, “It’s cool because the wind is well near the head.”

Japanese Internet users showed enthusiastic responses. Positive responses such as “It’s cute,” “I don’t have to carry it around with my hands,” and “I want to get one, too.”

According to the Japanese media ‘Mainichi Shimbun’, the mass production is known as the ‘Umbrello’ brand sold at Montbell. After the product name was shared, purchase inquiries were concentrated, and the product was reported to have been out of stock. The Umbrello was released in 2017, and while covering the entire top of the head to protect the head, it has the advantage of having a space between the hat and the head to allow good ventilation.

The price is divided into “Crushable Umbrello” made of 90% UV protection material and “Field Umbrello” made of natural grass material. Meanwhile, as the satgat-type umbrella gained popularity, mass production, which was unveiled by Japan’s Tokyo Metropolitan Government ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics and Paralympics, is also attracting attention.

The product is a mass product introduced by Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike at the time and is made of materials with UV protection and heat protection. The mass production was provided for Olympic volunteers, but it has been criticized by citizens, such as “the design is tacky” and “wacky.”
