Various illegal goods such as T-shirts, hangers, and paintings related to “Squid Game” are sold on AliExpress, a Chinese online shopping platform that sells to customers around the world.
When season 1 and season 2 of “Squid Game” were released earlier, the distribution of illegal copies and unauthorized viewing in China were highly controversial. In particular, since season 1 of “Squid Game” was released, merchants who sell “fake” (fake) goods at large Chinese online shopping malls have enjoyed a big special.
Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post reported at the time, “Some of the most popular products related to ‘Squid Game’ on Korean online shopping sites are sold by companies in Guangzhou, Guangdong, Shenzhen, and Anhui, China.”
Above all, it is pointed out that it is a big problem to make and sell goods that use the portrait rights of actors such as Lee Jung-jae who appeared in “Squid Game” without permission.
“This is a pathetic act. There should be no illegal viewing and making illegal goods into their own profit structure,” said Seo Kyung-duk, a professor at Sungshin Women’s University. “We will no longer have to stop stealing content from other countries,” he continued.
