Former chief prosecutor sued for alleged sexual harassment

A former chief prosecutor has been sued by a female employee of a golf course for alleged sexual harassment, police said Wednesday.

The former Prosecutor General, whose identity has been withheld, is under suspicion of forcibly hugging and trying to kiss the female employee in her 20s on June 22, 2013, according to officers at the Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency.

“(The former chief prosecutor) forcibly hugged my daughter and tried to kiss her on her cheeks on June 22,” the victim’s father said in a phone interview with Yonhap News Agency.

Shortly after the incident, the woman tendered her resignation to the golf course, some 50 kilometers north of Seoul, where she had worked for two years.

The former top prosecutor further verbally harassed the woman and handed her a 50,000 won (US$45) bill, the father further claimed.

The former chief prosecutor denied the allegations brought against him, according to sources at the police agency.

Police said they plan to summon the former chief prosecutor sometime soon for questioning. (Yonhap)
