Black Pink won two awards for the first time as a Korean female group at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA). BTS won the Group of the Year award for the fourth consecutive year.

Black Pink was selected as the winner of the “Best Metaverse Performance” and “Best K-pop” categories at the MTV VMA held at the Prudential Center in New Jersey on the 28th (local time). This year’s new best metaverse performance is an award given to performances conducted by singers’ avatars in virtual reality, and Justin Bieber and Twenty One Pilots were nominated together.

The “Best K-pop” award was won by BLACKPINK member Lisa for her solo album “Lalisa.” The award, which was newly established in 2019, has been won by BTS for three consecutive years until last year. BLACKPINK was the first Korean female group to perform on the VMA stage.

BTS won the “Group of the Year” award by competing with Silk Sonic and Imagine Dragons formed by Bruno Mars. It is the fourth consecutive year since 2019. Male group SEVENTEEN also received an award in the “Push Performance of the Year” category.
