STORY: The foreign ministers of Thailand and Malaysia met in Bangkok on Wednesday (August 10) to discuss and agree on a new bilateral trade target of $30 billion by 2025.

Don Pramudwinai and his Malaysian counterpart Saifuddin Abdullah held talks on joint border issues and bilateral cooperation in various areas during the 14th Meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JC) and the 5th Ministerial Meeting of the Committee on Joint Development Strategy for Border Areas (JDS) between Thailand and Malaysia.

When asked about Myanmar, Don said the two would discuss the matter later in the day, particularly about the repatriation of the Rohingya.

The Southeast Asian regional bloc ASEAN said it was “deeply disappointed” by the limited progress made by Myanmar’s military rulers in implementing a peace agreement to end the conflict in the country, according to a communique issued by its foreign ministers last Friday (August 5).
