The Korean government has officially scrapped its nuclear-free policy.

We decided to increase the proportion of nuclear power plants to more than 30% by 2030. To this end, it plans to operate 28 nuclear power plants by 2030, including the construction of Shinhanul Units 3 and 4. Perhaps, it seems that the current raw material imbalance has been tailored to the era of high prices.
The core of the new government’s energy policy is the expansion of nuclear power plants. It has decided to build the suspended Shin-Hanul Units 3 and 4 and raise the proportion of nuclear power plants from the current 27.4% to more than 30% by 2030.

In fact, I’ve formulated the abolition of the government’s nuclear power plant policy. Yoon Dae-ryeong announced a policy change after visiting a nuclear power plant company in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, on the 22nd of last month
“If I had not done anything stupid in the last five years and built this nuclear power plant ecosystem more solidly….” expressed regret thatIn order to prepare for the growing demand for electricity, we decided to increase coal-fired power generation in the short term, but gradually reduce it.

Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Lee Chang-yang
“The second axis is to shift policy from energy supply to demand efficiency.” The former government’s energy mix plan, which emphasized the expansion of renewable energy, has also been re-established. The decision is based on the judgment that excessive supply of renewable energy did not help supply and demand electricity of electricity. “The unit price went up because we did too much renewable energy and reduced nuclear power. A plan to lower the supply unit price should be preceded….”
The government plans to specify the details of the announcement in the 10th Basic Plan for Electricity Supply in the fourth quarter of this year.
