The Y2K retro craze is in the fashion world, but skinny jeans are a particularly cold fashion style

He barely managed to put his legs in a narrow trouser canister and jump to lock the buttons of his pants, and after wearing skinny jeans all day long, he suffered from indigestion and numbness in his thighs. Skinny jeans that everyone took for granted in the past disappeared at some point. Trends go around, but many women say they will never wear them again. Why?

For some time, skinny jeans were considered a “must-have item” that made legs look long and slim. However, the mood changed as comfortable silhouettes such as wide pants, straight fit, and jogger pants were established. Analysts say that the trend of choosing “less tightening clothes” has become stronger, rather than just a change of style.

Experts have pointed out that overly tight bottoms can put a strain on the body. Skinny jeans strongly compress the thighs and calves. When worn for a long time, peripheral blood flow is not smooth, which can cause numbness in the legs, swelling, and coldness. In particular, office workers who sit and work for a long time are burdened.

A symptom called ‘meralgia parresthetica’ has been reported medically. It is a phenomenon in which numbness or burning occurs as the sensory nerves outside the thigh are compressed. Tight pants, corsets, and belts can be the cause.

Clothing that tightens the abdomen can also cause indigestion or abdominal distention by compressing the stomach and intestines. In particular, there are many cases where people feel uncomfortable when wearing it after meals. Hygiene problems were also huge among women. If ventilation is not good, sweat and fever become full, increasing the risk of skin trouble and inflammation. Critics have consistently pointed out that it is related to vaginal health.

At this point, it seems natural for women to turn a blind eye to skinny jeans. The reason why the corset and correction underwear market hit rock bottom is also a point in line.

The fashion world has already noticed changes in silhouette. High-waist wide pants, loose-fit denim, and slacks have become mainstream. Analysts say that “whether one looks slim or not” as in the past is not the top priority, but “whether one can wear it for a long time at ease” has a greater influence on consumption decisions. A fashion industry official explained, “Skin jeans were items that presupposed an ideal body shape, but the recent trend is to embrace a variety of body shapes.”

Nevertheless, there is a saying that fashion circulates. We cannot completely rule out the possibility that slim fit will become fashionable again a few years later. However, it seems difficult to see an era when ultra-close skinny jeans with strong pressure become the “standard” as in the past.

The choice of female consumers seems clear. The attitude is to choose clothes that are comfortable rather than clothes that are endured to look pretty. The trend may return, but the sense of discomfort has already passed.
