It has been reported that a Japanese beer company will produce beer using artificial intelligence (AI) in earnest starting next year.
According to Japan’s Kyodo News on the 13th, Kirin Holdings, the holding company of Japan’s Kirin Group, which has Kirin Beer as an affiliate, is set to produce beer using its own AI.
AI plays a role in finding and suggesting ingredients suitable for the desired taste by weighing various factors that create taste in fields related to human senses such as taste and smell.

The taste of beer is determined by the combination of various ingredients. The reality is that it has not been easy to find out the balance between important ingredients and ingredients, and that it depends on the experience of the person in charge.
According to reports, Kirin Beer plans to reflect this sequentially from March next year. The combination of AI is expected to boost the accuracy and speed of development.
Kirin Brewery has developed its own AI based on accumulated ingredient data and consumer sample surveys over the past 20 years, and this AI is said to be able to quantify which ingredients affect taste and how.
As a result of conducting sample tests on consumers earlier, the use of AI was evaluated very positively on both occasions.
Meanwhile, Kirin Holdings drew attention by introducing an AI executive named “CoreMate” in August. It is a system developed independently by Kirin Holdings based on AI models provided by Microsoft (MS) and Google.
After learning past minutes and external information, 12 “virtual personalities” in charge of each field, including marketing and legal affairs, work by presenting issues or suggesting opinions to management on the agenda of the meeting.
