Australian media NewsCom reported on the 14th that Avalon Saf, from Toronto, Canada, is working on a paid content platform under the name of “Lana” and making a profit by selling fart videos that only record sound.
Saf is producing and uploading “parting videos” instead of ordinary photos and videos. “I once got paid $200 for just farting in front of the camera,” Saf said in a podcast. “Of course, there is no smell, it’s just a sound.”
Saf is known to dominate the niche market and earn around 3,000 dollars per month, and has secured stable additional income even after paying platform fees. It is said that it is maximizing profits through direct transactions with some fans outside of the platform.
The idea started with his boyfriend, Ryan. Ryan said, “Lana’s fart was terrible. As a joke, I said, ‘I have to make money from this,’ but I ended up starting it for real.”
As the online content market is saturated, the sideline of unique and differentiated concepts is attracting new attention. Experts said, “Now is an era in which ideas and concepts themselves become assets,” adding, “With the online content market saturated, exotic content targeting a niche is becoming a new side-line model.”
