xAI said those employees would be paid at the end of the contract period or by Nov. 30, but their access to the company’s system would be blocked from the time the notice of dismissal was given.

xAI said it has decided to accelerate and prioritize the expansion of “professional AI teachers,” while reducing its focus on the role of general AI teachers.
The plan is to reduce the number of employees in charge of basic data organization and labeling, and increase the number of ‘professional AI teachers’ who teach AI based on deep expertise in specific fields such as law and medicine.
“We will immediately expand our professional AI teacher team tenfold,” xAI said, adding, “We are also hiring in various fields such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics, finance, medicine, and safety.”
Musk has said he will set up xAI in 2023, and will check AI development driven by major tech giants.
