Scary People’s Rental Service Appears in Japan

According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP) in Hong Kong on the 8th, a post containing the introduction of the company, which operates a “scary person rental service,” became a hot topic on Instagram, receiving 300,000 “likes.” The company promoted that the problem can be solved only by overbearing appearance without illegal activities.

According to the report, the company introduced past cases, saying that it can quickly and effectively solve various problems that customers face. For example, they asked a noisy neighbor to be quiet, took the role of a “best friend” of a victim suffering from bullying in the workplace, and visited a supervisor, or solved school violence and bullying. The fare is set at 20,000 yen per 30 minutes, and 50,000 yen per 3 hours.

Japanese netizens expressed various opinions. Some say that it seems useful because it is human nature to bully the weak and fear the strong, but there are also a number of voices expressing concern such as “It doesn’t seem legitimate” and “Isn’t it just a yakuza?”

However, the service provider announced on Instagram on the 31st of last month that “the service has been terminated due to various circumstances.” There is also speculation that there may have been no license required for operation.
