Customized massage··AI robot massager’ appears with 1.2 million body data

An artificial intelligence (AI)-based robot massager appeared at a wellness spa in San Antonio, Texas.

The latest massage table “Ascape” scans the user’s body with four cameras to collect about 1.2 million data points, and then creates a 3D body model based on this.

Two heated robot arms then provide personalized massages. Users can wear the Spa-provided exclusive suits and adjust the pressure intensity and massage area with the touchscreen in front of the table. Press the ‘Love this’ button for satisfactory actions and ‘Move on’ button for unnecessary actions, and the machine will learn them and reflect them on your next visit.

Although it is a mechanical massage, it implements a warm touch and soft movement similar to a real hand, and some say that it can focus on sensitive areas such as hips and hamstrings rather than human massage.

The price is about 63,000 won for 30 minutes and 79 dollars for 60 minutes and no tips are required. Starting with San Antonio, AceCape is expanding its reach to high-end gyms and spas in major U.S. cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Dallas.
