Seven & i Holdings, a holding company of 7-Eleven, announced its mid-term 2030 plan. According to the plan, the company plans to increase the number of stores by about 1,000 in the domestic convenience store business in Japan. The net increase is a real increase excluding the number of new stores that closed. More than 5,000 of the existing stores will have new cooking facilities that allow them to directly sell fresh products such as freshly baked bread.
In the convenience store business division in North America, it plans to open 1,300 new stores and expand 1,100 additional complex stores that combine restaurants and convenience stores.
Through the plan, Seven & I expected sales to grow 2.0% from 94 trillion won in 2024 to 106 trillion won in 2030 and operating profit to grow 3.9% from 20.5 trillion won to 32 trillion won during the same period.
“It is very important to change now,” Dacers President Stephen Hayes said at a press conference in Tokyo. “It will be a completely different management from the past.”
7-Eleven currently has 87,000 stores around the world and operates 23,000 stores in Japan. Seven & i Holdings previously withdrew after Circle K convenience store company Canada ACT sought to acquire it for more than 60 trillion won.
