Netflix drama “When Life Gives You Tangerines” and launched an experiential tourism product linked to content in the drama

The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the Jeju Tourism Organization recently announced that they have introduced a new photo zone and experiential tourism product using major contents in the drama to reproduce the impression of Netflix’s popular work, “When Life Gives You Tangerines.” The project, which utilizes cultural contents, consisted of three experience programs to continuously spread the charm of Jeju, which was re-examined as “Fully Believed,” and to provide a more immersive experience to drama fans and tourists. First of all, the provincial government and the public corporation created a photo zone using the works drawn by grandmother artists living in Seonheul 1-ri, Jocheon-eup, Jeju-si, with the motif of “When Life Gives You Tangerines” at four major filming spots: Jeju Mokgwana, Kimnyeong Beach, Seongeup Folk Village, and Seongsan Ilchulbong. The Sunheul Grandmother’s Painting Exhibition is expected to gain great popularity from tourists as IU, the main character of the drama, visited in person in June. As a result, the Jeju Tourism Organization is hosting a photo zone hashtag event called “When Life Gives You Tangerines” until August 31. The method of participation will be completed by taking a picture directly at the photo zone and uploading a specific hashtag (#JejuPokSproutEvent, #Promise with Jeju) on Instagram. After the event is over, the construction will provide 10 pictures of the grandmother’s companion to 10 people selected through a lottery.

In addition, Jeju Island and the Jeju Tourism Organization have developed a cooking class product so that tourists can taste and experience Jeju in person by reinterpreting Jeju’s local food and recipes in a modern way. There are a total of six menus developed under the concept of “Fully tricked Jeju Korean table setting.” They include cabbage ssambap, Gwansiki is barley bean rice, tote gamtae rice balls, Gonom’s opening clothes (baked abalone), squid radish soup-style Jeju Korean chicken soup, and tangerine hwaro. The program is operated by “Toto Atelier,” where unique experiences are possible, and reservations are available through Naver. Lastly, Jeju Island and the Jeju Tourism Organization will run four cooking classes centered on drama contents for villagers and village restaurants with the Veji-geun Research Institute from July to August. The cooking class, which is scheduled to be held on July 15, July 22, August 12, and August 19, will be operated as a program using ingredients from the village with the story of “I was completely deceived.” In this regard, an official of the Jeju Tourism Organization said, “We are focusing on developing Jeju tourism contents by utilizing major scenes in the drama, including “I was completely deceived,” and added, “The corporation will continue to provide an opportunity to experience the charm of Jeju by continuously discovering differentiated tourism contents that link local resources and stories.”
