There was a warning that you should not sleep with your charging cell phone under your pillow. It is explained that it is necessary to be more careful as the temperature rises especially in summer.
According to the British Daily Mail on the 1st, Apple (Apple UK) recently updated the iPhone user guide on its website and issued fire prevention rules and warnings as the heat continued in the region.
Apple warned users of its electronic devices, such as iPhones, “You should not put blankets, pillows, etc. on devices that are operating or connected to power for a long time, power adapters, or wireless chargers, or sleep on them.”
“When using or charging the device, it should be stored in a well-ventilated place,” he said, adding, “Failure to follow these safety guidelines can lead to fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to equipment and other property.”

Experts also stressed the importance of such safety rules. Fire Chief Global, a local fire prevention company in the U.K., warned that leaving a charging cell phone under a pillow or blanket could pose a significant fire risk.
“Heat is generated while charging the cell phone, and if you cover it with a pillow or blanket, the heat cannot escape, so there is a high risk of overheating, and there is a potential fire risk,” said Laurie Pollard, the company’s executive director. “Overcharging, or charging the cell phone overnight, is one of the main causes of fire in devices equipped with lithium-ion batteries.”
He also added, “In particular, beds and tables are made of combustible materials, so there is a high risk that the fire will spread quickly if a fire breaks out.”
Amid the recent heat wave of around 30 degrees around the world, including Korea, the UK, and the United States, the risk of cell phone fires is increasing due to high temperatures.
In particular, if a cell phone battery fire occurs while in contact with the skin, it can lead to a fatal accident, so more attention is needed.
