China insists on “Korea is a state of thieves” in “Red Note”

While the “anti-TikTok law” in the U.S. was suspended through an executive order last month, U.S. TikTok users are flocking to the Chinese version of Instagram “Red Note” as a refuge.

Xiao Hongshu is one of the most used SNSs in China, with about 300 million monthly active users. Xiao Hongshu has been mainly used only in China so far, and most of the users are Chinese.

However, with no idea what the so-called anti-TikTok law will look like, many U.S. Internet users are now moving to Xiao Hongshu. In the U.S., people call it “red note.”

Seo Kyung-duk, a professor at Sungshin Women’s University, said, “I found out because many Internet users living in China and the United States recently reported,” adding, “As a result of checking the red note, Chinese people are making a forced claim to Americans that ‘Korea is a state of thieves.’

“I’m brainwashing Americans, and there are a lot of articles and videos that are spreading now, including ‘Korea is stealing Chinese culture’ and ‘Don’t trust Korea.’ It’s a pretty serious situation,” he added.

Finally, Seo said, “As Korean culture is drawing attention from all over the world, this behavior stems from a severe sense of inferiority among Chinese Internet users,” adding, “This perverse Chinese ideology will make China an isolated country in the world. We must keep this in mind.”
