Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors signed an agreement with LG Electronics and YouTube to enhance the experience of entertainment customers in the vehicle.

The signing ceremony was held at LG Electronics (U.S. corporation) in Los Angeles, USA, and Kwon Hae-young, head of Hyundai Motor and Kia Infotainment Development Center, Eun Seok-hyun, head of LG Electronics’ VS business division, and Tony Archiebong, executive director of YouTube’s global product partnership, attended.

SDV (software-oriented car)-based technology will enable users to enjoy high-definition video content even in their cars like at home or in theaters. As a result, customers of Hyundai Motor, Kia, and Genesis will be able to enjoy high-definition and high-quality YouTube contents through the infotainment system in the vehicle. The first models to be applied are the recently released Genesis ‘GV80 partial change’ and ‘GV80 coupe’. You can watch the new GV80’s navigation screen as well as the rear seat smart entertainment system. In particular, different videos can be enjoyed through the infotainment system for each seat depending on the passenger’s taste. However, in the front navigation screen, it is operated only in a parking (step P) situation for safety.

Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors plan to allow customers to conveniently enjoy YouTube content in existing vehicles as well as new cars to be released in the future. Models equipped with high-end sixth-generation infotainment systems, connected car integrated cockpit (ccIC), and connected car navigation cockpit (ccNC) will be provided through software updates in the future.Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors plan to cooperate with global content companies to provide more diverse OTT (Over The Top) services, including YouTube contents. It is in the same context as the cinema function that allows you to watch OTT services such as “Watcha”, “Wave”, and “U+ Mobile TV” was applied earlier.Kwon Hae-young, managing director, said, “The reason why we can enjoy various video contents comfortably in the car is because of technological advances based on SDV. We will expand cooperation with major global content companies.”Vice President Eun Seok-hyun emphasized, “We will continue to introduce webOS (vehicle content platform) that provides the best in-vehicle entertainment experience, as well as battlefield solutions that provide differentiated customer experiences to drivers and passengers.”\
