The Seoul Business Agency presents the vision of Tech Hub Seoul through CES…Largest-ever participation

The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Business Agency (SBA, CEO Kim Hyun-woo) of the Seoul Metropolitan Government showed innovative technologies of 66 companies to the world at CES, the world’s largest tech exhibition.

□ Seoul Tech Pavilion introduces Seoul’s future vision in a state-of-the-art way.
It simultaneously operated the ‘K-STARTUP Integrated Hall’, which exhibits the technologies of 51 companies (1.5 to 8) to showcase Seoul’s vision and innovative technologies. In particular, 14 of the participating companies won the CES 2023 Innovation Award.
□ First, Seoul Pavilion was built on a scale of about 50 pyeong in LVCC North Hall.

□ Under the theme of “Smart Transportation City, Eco-Friendly City Seoul,” Seoul’s future vision was implemented as an innovation technology of Korea’s leading companies, and various attractions were provided for visitors, including stereoscopic and 3D video screen screening, technology exhibitions for partner companies, and metaverse experience booths. In addition, participating companies’ technology open pitching, smart city Seoul forum, and investment attraction events were held.

□ In the large exhibition hall of Eureka Park, the K-STARTUP integrated hall (143 pyeong) where 51 companies’ technologies are displayed was also operated.
○ A total of 51 companies participated in the K-STARTUP Integration Hall. It was co-hosted and operated with related domestic organizations such as the Seoul Industry Promotion Agency and the Startup Promotion Agency.

□ The Seoul Business Agency held a vision declaration ceremony at the CES Seoul Technology Center at 13:00 on January 5 (Thursday) to publicize the attractive future of Seoul, which is changing into technology, to the global market.
○ Under the theme of “CES, Invitation to Seoul,” Kim Hyun-woo, CEO of the Seoul Business Agency, introduced Seoul’s lifestyle and digital infrastructure-based high-tech industries, technologies and contents that enabled “Amazing Seoul,” and announced plans to shed light on Seoul’s various industries, businesses and lifestyles through a global platform called CES.

□ Kim Hyun-woo, CEO of the Seoul Industry Promotion Agency, unveiled for the first time the plan to hold the “SeoulCon Festival” centered on DDP as of the end of December 2023 at the CES declaration ceremony. The Seoul Con Festival is being planned as a project to invite a large number of influencers such as famous YouTubers and TikTokers from around the world to shed light on the Seoul beauty fashion industry and DDP and deliver it live to citizens around the world.

□ Following the declaration ceremony, technical presentations by companies participating in the Seoul Technology Center were made. Among the participating companies, 14 major companies in the “Smart Mobility” and “ESG” fields held a meeting to introduce innovative technologies to domestic and foreign investors.

○ In addition, ▲ Lotte Chemical ▲ S-Oil ▲ Hancom InSpace ▲ FCI ▲ Revest ▲ Narma ▲ Calibus ▲ Korea Airport Corporation ▲ Pablo Airlines showed the company’s cutting-edge technology using the large screen of the Seoul Technology Center.

□ In addition, the Korea-U.S. Investor Startup Networking Forum, which strengthens networking with major global corporate officials and expands the interface between Korean companies and investors, and the Seoul Night, a networking event inviting major CES officials, were also held successfully.

□ The Korea-U.S. Investor Startup Networking Forum was held at 15:30 on the 6th at the Renaissance Hotel near the CES exhibition hall, co-hosted by the Korea Economic Daily and major U.S. investment company GFT Ventures.
○ About 100 global companies, including startups participating in CES Seoul Hall, including Samsung and Qualcomm, and major domestic and foreign investment institutions (VC, CVC) officials, including GFT Ventures and 500 Startups, attended the site.
○ Participating investment institutions introduced each company’s investment attraction programs and technical fields of interest, and startups pitched their technologies and businesses and conducted negotiations to attract investment.

□ “Seoul Night,” a network event inviting major CES officials, was held successfully at the Renaissance Hotel at 19:00 on January 6 (Fri).
○ Seoul Night is a co-hosted event by SBA and the Korea Economic Daily, attended by about 50 key officials from the Seoul Technology Center/K-STARTUP Integrated Hall partners, major universities in Korea, the U.S. Embassy in Korea, and large domestic and foreign companies.
○ At Seoul Night, SBA announced plans to discover promising new industries in Seoul and support its entry into the global market using CES. In addition, new business collaboration was discussed through free networking between participants.

□ “The Seoul Business Agency (SBA) was able to effectively showcase the convenient and beautiful lifestyle of Seoul created by smart mobility and ESG technology through the global stage of CES,” said Kim Hyun-woo, CEO of the Seoul Business Agency.
