I’m here to reinforce the strength of our alliance and strengthen our work together.” 4. MEETING IN PROGRESS STORY: U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris said on Thursday (September 29) that she visited South Korea to reinforce the strength of the alliance between the two countries, as she held a meeting with South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol in Seoul. Harris will condemn North Korea’s missile launch and discuss Seoul’s concerns over changes in U.S. electric vehicle subsidies, trilateral relations involving Japan, and China’s action in the Taiwan Strait, a White House official said on Thursday. Harris landed in the South Korean capital early on Thursday and is set to visit the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) separating the two Koreas, just a day after North Korea test-fired two short-range ballistic missiles. It was the North’s second missile launch since Sunday (September 25) and comes two days after South Korea and U.S. forces conducted a military drill in waters off South Korea’s east coast involving an aircraft carrier.
